| Recognition for a Job Well Done
Rebecca Gurley was voted the 2003/2004 Teacher of the Year in the
Lynnhaven School system for the economics curriculum that she and
her team of teachers developed for use in area middle schools. This
thorough and well-thought-out developmental plan not only teaches
important concepts, it also provides the background into which these
concepts fit.
Success Begins with Research
Rebecca used the community resources available to her to enhance
her teaching ability. She researched material through her local
credit union to create teaching materials that were not only relevant,
but timely, too.
What Does It Mean to Me?
The curriculum that Rebecca developed personalizes each lesson,
so that students aren’t simply learning abstract concepts.
They’re learning how each concept applies to them. Modules
include:
- “Your Financial Foundation”
- “You, the Informed Decision Maker”
- “You, the Confident Consumer”
- “You, the Wise Investor”
